Tanaquil Márquez is the cofounder and creator of La Fábrica, the first bilingual theater company in Philadelphia. Tanaquil works as a director and writer who centers her work on bold bilingual plays. In August 2017 she wrote, directed, and produced Azul, a passion play about Picasso´s blue period infused with live Flamenco music and dance. Other writing credits include; Súcia, a play about the dirty war in Argentina and I Only Came to Use the Phone, an adaptation of Gabriel Garcia Márquez´s short story about a woman who gets mistaken for a mental patient. Tanaquil has most recently appeared in the Venezuelan play A 2,50 la Cuba Libre by Ibrahim Guerra. She holds a BA in Theater and Spanish and has managed to merge her two majors together in her productions and her work. Tanaquil works for The Arden and Theatre Horizon, where she teaches theater in Spanish to ESL students.
